Bethel area riders are loyal participants in this event! Nancy Babcock wrote recently (7/7/16):
The Tuesday night race series at Great Glen began this past Tuesday. It goes for 8 weeks (7 now) and is a lot of fun. Just show up with your mountain bke and helmet any time between 3:30 & 7pm to be timed. There's a long (5 mile), short (3 mile) and mini (1.2 mile) course. All are a combination of single track and carriage roads. All ages and abilites are welcome. On Tuesday there were 81 riders, ages 5-61.
If you make it to 5 of the 8 nights, you are elegible for placement prizes in your category (expert, sport, novice, and all the different age groups in each for the three different length courses) as well as raffle prizes - which they usually seem to have enough of for everyone.
Adults can race the whole series for $60 or $12/time. Kids 17 and under are $30/series, or $7/time. The courses are very well marked and you can preride the course to warm up and check it out. It's very casual, and a lot of fun.
