Flying Moose Classic Feb 11th, 2024

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, the Bethel Outing Club, Nonstop Nordic, and NENSA proudly present the 33rd Annual Flying Moose Classic Half-Marathon. Part of both the Zak Cup and NENSA Marathon Series, this fun and exciting event starts at the Bethel Inn Resort and takes you through the rolling hills and forest lands of the Bethel Inn and Inland Woods and Trail's Bethel Village Trails in Bethel, Maine, providing you with a wonderful scenic adventure.

Skiers can select from either the 12.5KM or 25KM course, and a 3 KM Sit Ski course. There is a 1KM kids race (grades K-5) that will take them over fun little obstacles and zig-zag pathways, and a 3KM Middle School Race (grades 6-8). Kids race starts at 9:00 a.m. (mass start); Middle School starts at 9:30 a.m. (mass start);  12.5KM & 25KM races start at 10:00 a.m. (mass start). Awards and cookies to follow at ~12:30 p.m. 

RACE DETAILS

  • This is a Classic technique race. There will be course marshalls on course monitoring for technique violations. 

  • Benches and some basic instruction and kick wax will be available. If klister is required, there will be a fee for the use of klister. 

  • Races will be mass start.

PLEASE PRE-REGISTER as it greatly helps race organizers with planning. REGISTER HERE. Day of registration available for additional fee. 

  • 25KM = $35

  • 12.5KM = $35

  • 3KM Sit Ski = $35

  • 3KM Youth = $15 (FREE for Bethel Outing Club Members & MSAD44)

  • 1KM = $10 (FREE for Bethel Outing Club Members & MSAD44)

Race Day Schedule:

9:00 AM: Grades K-5, 1km Classic Mass Start

9:30 AM: 3km Sit Ski & Grades 6-8 Classic Mass Start

10:00 AM: 12.5km & 25km Classic Mass Start

~12:30 PM: Awards

Parking
Parking is available at the Bethel Inn, along Church Street, or at Gould Academy by the fieldhouse. Portable toilets are at the site.

Spectators 
All spectators welcome! Spectator etiquette:

  • if on skis, ski ONLY in the DIRECTION of TRAVEL

  • If on foot, DO NOT walk on the ski trails 

  • Please consider volunteering while you spectate! See one of the people in a ‘Nonstop Helper’ bib to offer your services on race day.

Bib Pick Up & Day of Race Registration
The race registration table will be located by Gould Tent in back of the Bethel Inn.  

Livestream
We will be live-streaming from a couple spots on the race course via our Nonstop Nordic Facebook & Instagram pages.

AWARDS! 
Raffle prizes can be found near the registration table after completion of your age group’s race.
